 Unless
you’ve been living in a cave, you’ve no doubtedly heard of Brent Mason –
chances are you’ve heard him too. Brent actually plays on just about any
country album that comes from Nashville – he is first call in guitarists in
Nashville.
The
first time I met Brent was in between sets at a place called ‘Third and
Lindsley” – The Players were performing on a rare occasion in Nashville,
Tennessee.
I
had talked to Brent about sending a Boss blues driver guitar pedal to him, and
we exchanged contact information. After sending the first pedal to him, he
contacted me and told me he liked it.
Over
a period of time I began to get to know Brent a bit—such a great, humble guy! Brent
is probably the nicest and most down to earth guy in the world, who never lets
any of it go to his head.

- It goes on for miles. According to many publications Brent has owned country
music for over a decade with at least seven out of ten of the songs in the top
ten at any given time - not annually - being played on by him since the early
nineties. For many years he has won the annual Music City Allstars Award for
being the musician with the most songs they have played on being in the radio
top ten hits for the entire year. Over and over he wins this award. This is IN
ADDITION to his CMA awards and Academy of Country Music Awards from l993 - 2002,
(when they "retired" him, telling him he would no longer be allowed to
win in that category as they had a clause that no one could win over ten years
in a row - which I have a problem with, if you win you win).
Brent
doesn’t like to brag on himself, so I found this out for myself. He is named
in writing as the most recorded guitar player alive. Realistically, you probably
are listening to Brent most of the time you hear country radio. I believe 8 out
10 songs on modern country radio has Brent on guitar. Even Alan Jackson himself
said on a TV special that aired several years ago, "Brent Mason - whew...-
that boy - well, he's not human". But don't take my word for it –
Brent
has virtually owned country music for the past decade, His inventive style and
masterful playing has made him one of the most in-demand session guitarists in
the world. I wont even begin to list his ENTIRE impressive playing credits,
